American Masters: The Art of the Craft

In May of 2017, PBS released an American Masters documentary on Jacques Pépin. The film, produced by Peter Stein does an excellent job of capturing the passion, beauty, and complexity of Jacques’ life and career. Sprinkled with classic footage and interviews from culinary luminaries, the film will transport you from the scarcity of WWII, to a time when all the mushrooms in American grocery stores were canned, to celebrity chefs.

Rollie Wesen at Community Kitchen

In April, at the RI Food Bank’s Community Kitchen, Chef and co-founder Rollie Wesen demonstrated how to make roux and its application in Velouté and Gumbo.

The Jacques Pépin Foundation Working with the Community

The Community Kitchen at the Rhode Island Food Bank is a great example of the organizations that the Jacques Pépin Foundation supports. Low-income and jobless adults participate in a 14 week, full time course that teaches the culinary, job and life skills required to enter the workforce as a food service professional.
