On August 2nd and 3rd Jacques and the JPF were with the Forge City Works in Hartford, teaching a class for their culinary training program and hosting a fund-raiser. The class was a hands-on opportunity with the master to learn a variety of techniques from whipping egg whites, to fundamental knife skills, to peeling shrimp and filleting flatfish such as dover sole. The class was caught on camera and will become part of the JPF Video Library.
On Saturday, Jacques hosted a fundraiser and book signing welcoming 150 guests, and celebrating the great work of Forge City Works at Firebox restaurant. After a question and answer session, each guest had an opportunity for a one-on-one moment with Jacques as he signed books and grinned for photos. The event raised over $30,000 for the culinary training program at Forge City Works. The JPF is proud to support their great work, empowering individuals with barriers to employment with skills and opportunities to work in food service.
