After months of preparation, the dedicated crew at Emma’s Torch have cut the ribbon on their brand new café and training center in Silver Spring, MD! The JPF was thrilled to be there, as Board Member Elaine Chon-Baker and Marketing Communications Manager Carolyn Crow joined community leaders, employment partners, and program alumni for the celebration earlier this month.
Conveniently located on a major public transit line, the new Emma’s Torch Café is more accessible and comfortable for both program participants and restaurant patrons than their former DC-area location. The sun-drenched space more than quadruples the footprint of the previous basement classroom, and the beautiful dining room is sure to become a popular coffee and pastry destination for commuters. With the expanded kitchen and prominent location, this new café will allow the team to significantly scale up their paid apprenticeship program and bridge the gap between workforce talent and industry demand.
