It was a busy summer for JPF Grantees! Here’s a bit of what they’ve been up to in the past few months, and be sure to scroll down to find out how you can volunteer to help provide JPF funds to deserving Community Kitchens nationwide!

At Root in Salem, MA, ten trainees, pictured above, graduated from the Culinary Training Program, including the first graduate of the Root Alumni Employment Program. Nearly 80 people attended the Root graduation, including the JPF’s Director of Grants & Membership, Jennifer Quigley-Harris. Held in Harborpoint, Root’s beautiful event space, guests were treated to water views of historic Salem Harbor and a look at the state-of-the-art kitchen.

In August, students from Cohort 100 at CHEFS—the culinary training program at Episcopal Services of San Francisco—cooked and shared a meal for guests. With help from their instructor (and past Video Recipe Book contributor) Chef Robert Martz, they presented their creations in the video linked above. Stay for the part about chiffonade!

Members of the Alumni Advisory Group of the Rochester, NY Foodlink

This summer, members of the Alumni Advisory Group of the Rochester, NY Foodlink Career Fellowship catered a community event, serving 250 community members. Each year, Foodlink alumni donate their time and all product, as a way to stay connected with each other and grounded in community work. This summer, all the alumni (pictured above) donned their JPF aprons for the event!

We are delighted to see how successful our Grantee program participants have been, and we want you to help us make our mission stronger! Join the volunteer JPF Grant Committee to support our mission-based work with non-profits nationwide.

Grant Committee volunteers help select awardees for JPF grants. With just 4-6 hours of remotely reading and reviewing applications, your comments and feedback on our grant proposals will help inform final decisions for funding in the Principal Grants Program. Those 4-6 hours make a big difference to the JPF, and an incalculable impact on the organizations and programs we help to fund!

Questions? Ready to volunteer?

Please email Jennifer Quigley-Harris at jennifer@jp.foundation. And, if you were previously a member of the Grants Reading Committee, please email to confirm that you would like to participate once again in October. Thank you for your support!
