What is a QCD?

A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) allows individuals aged 70½ or older to make direct transfers of up to $105,000 per year from their IRA to a qualified charity like the Jacques Pépin Foundation. For married couples, each spouse can make QCDs up to the $105,000 limit for a potential total of $210,000. The QCD has a dual advantage: it counts toward your required minimum distribution (RMD) without increasing your taxable income. It’s a great example of how thoughtful financial planning can lead to meaningful philanthropy.

Why Consider a QCD to the Jacques Pépin Foundation?

The Jacques Pépin Foundation is dedicated to enriching lives and strengthening communities through culinary education and training. By contributing to the Jacques Pépin Foundation through a QCD, you’re not only supporting a foundation that champions culinary arts and education but also becoming a part of Jacques’ incredible legacy in culinary education.

How Does it Work?

Consult Your Financial Advisor

Before initiating a QCD, it’s critical to discuss the QCD with your financial advisor to ensure it aligns with your overall financial plan.

Contact Your IRA Custodian

Request that your IRA custodian make a direct transfer to the Jacques Pépin Foundation, Tax ID# 81-2706568. The funds must be sent directly to the charity to qualify as a QCD.
