Jeff Slavin
Jeff Slavin is a Partner at the law firm BakerHostetler in New York City, where he advises private investment fund managers and institutional investors on fund formation, regulatory matters, and strategic transactions. His career is defined by thoughtful counsel, mentorship, and a commitment to building sustainable structures for growth.
Jeff’s connection to the culinary world began early—first in his family kitchen, then at local delis in Southport, Connecticut, where he learned the fundamentals of knife skills, food prep, and the value of culinary know-how as a path to employment. A lifelong admirer of Jacques Pépin, he found inspiration in the instructional clarity and warmth of Jacques’ public television programs and cookbooks, which became staples in his home.
His passion for food continued through college, where he co-founded the Franklin & Marshall Gourmet Society and worked as a fish monger, and into adulthood, where he remained a devoted student of culinary technique—often returning to Jacques’ videos and recipes for guidance and joy. When he discovered the Jacques Pépin Foundation, Jeff saw an opportunity to give back to a cause that had shaped his life and values.
He is honored to serve on the JPF Board, supporting its mission to provide culinary education and career pathways to individuals facing barriers to employment. For Jeff, this work represents a meaningful intersection of professional expertise, personal passion, and a deep respect for the transformative power of food.
Jeff holds an undergraduate degree in History and Government from Franklin & Marshall College and a JD from Villanova University School of Law.
